History of Success

SPS has become one of the largest and most trusted suppliers of resin-coated proppants in the US. From our humble beginnings in 1964, SPS has grown steadily over the decades with an unrelenting focus on science, technology and the belief that innovations in resin-coating techniques will fuel advances in other industries, particularly in petroleum drilling and production.

From resin coating the industry’s first sands with the inventors of proppant technology, to the purchase and integration of the original Birmingham proppant production line, to the opening of the first customer Distribution Hub in Shreveport, LA, SPS is both the history of resin-coated sands and its future. Our scientists, laboratories and production lines have created, tested and supplied proppants to well sites from the Rockies to the Anadarko Basin to the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania.
